RP Biochemist: Woodwork as a hobby has presented me with a number of challenges: How can I design and build a piece of furniture that has integrity and beauty with my limited experience? How can I approach different elements of design and construction in a way that is safe and leads to a solid, lasting and beautiful piece? Although I had a number of classes, these dealt mostly with instructions on tool use – but where could I get inspired to broaden my thinking on what is possible, how to look at the wood, and how to think about the building process? It is clear to me that Hank not only knows how to build and how to design, he knows how to teach, and teaching is something he really has passion for.
